Escolhas presents partial results of new study on deforestation

Online event brought together around 40 experts to discuss data revealing the effects of deforestation on land prices

On the 18th of November, Escolhas Institute gathered together a group of experts to discuss the partial results of its new study, which assesses the isolated effect of deforestation on Brazilian land prices and commodities.

Two teams lead the development of the survey, coordinated by portfolio manager Jaqueline Ferreira. The economic analysis team was made up of Joaquim Bento de Souza Ferreira Filho, professor in the Department of Economics, Administration, and Sociology at the “Luiz de Queiroz” School of Agriculture at the University of São Paulo (Esalq/USP) and post-doctoral fellows Adauto Brasilino Rocha Junior and Giovani William Gianetti. The biophysical analysis team was made up of professor and researcher Gerd Sparovek (USP), who coordinates the GeoLab geoprocessing laboratory, Alberto Barreto and Arthur Fendrich, who are both affiliated with GPP/GeoLab.
